Where do you want to go?

When it comes to you and money, where do you want to go?

We sat down with some budgeters, and here’s what they said:

  • “Up. I’d like to go up, which means having more money. I think of a growth chart, like my kids have at the doctor’s office, and I want to check in and see how it’s doing.” Paul, father of three.
  • “When I hear that, it sounds like a relationship. I want to go places with money, like literally travel.” Kendall, fabulously child-free.
  • “I think of ‘enough.’ I don’t want to have to think about it as much, not every day.”  Matt, thinking about moving.
  • “Somewhere free, not like I don’t have to pay, but like a feeling of freedom.  Thinking about being debt-free, that’s where I want to go.”  Karisa, paying off student loans

What about you… Where do you want to go? Leave a comment to let us know!

  1. I want to be able to spend my money on who and what are important to me, when they’re important to me. I want to have the flexibility and freedom to be able to spend on more than just necessities, and so that when new things come up I don’t have to wait forever to invest in them.

  2. To a place that’s peaceful….

  3. I’d like to live simply and not think about it because when I think about it I get dissatisfied and selfish. I want to live on what I earn and have something extra to be generous with, not wish for what I don’t have.

  4. I would like to learn how to keep track of my money!

  5. I’ve been grateful to learn to be content whether it was when I was living on $2.00 a day as a part of a summer college experience living in urban Oakland or now, with a stable job and good income.

Practices of gratitude and generosity have been a key part of this learning. I’m very aware that, when it comes to money, I have much more than most.

So, where I’d like to go? I’d like to continue to grow in gratitude and generosity and do right by what I’ve been entrusted with.
