Apartment hunting on a budget

Finding an apartment can be tough. From figuring out what’s affordable, to being rejected by prospective landlords, it’s all pretty challenging. On top of that, how do you know what’s a “must have” and what’s not?

In this episode, Karisa shares her experience of looking for her first apartment.  Here’s what you’ll hear:

  • how she and her roommate decided what was important to them in an apartment
  • how they fell in love with an apartment… but didn’t get it
  • how they compromised to find an apartment that worked for them
  • how she feels about her decision two years later.

Enjoy!

  1. Wow, you and your roommate have such a great relationship built on clear communication–it’s so cool that you two were able to work through your priorities while finding an apartment together.

It’s so easy to want it all, perfect location, price point, and great windows with natural light(!!). Throw another person into the mix, and that makes it doubly difficult. It sounds like your compromise to live further away than you originally wanted really paid off since you’ve been able to use the savings to pay down debt!
