Great job with the assignments this week! We hope you feel inspired and excited to give — and to make a permanent space for generosity in your budget.

Today’s Assignment

  1. Read Chi-En’s story. Giving can help connect us to people or things that are important to us. Her story highlights these deeply personal connections.
  2. Reflect on your own giving in light of what Chi-En shared. How did it feel? What do you think? Are you more excited about giving? Do you think you’re more connected to a cause that’s important to you?
  3. Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments below!

Note for couples: Share your reflections with each other. You may have had very different experiences, and that is totally okay. Start with listening and learning about the other person.  Then imagine together — how might your giving patterns make space for your unique styles and passions, as well as your common causes?

Happy budgeting,
-The Goodbudget Team

  1. I relate to Chi-En’s story about an unexpected giving opportunity coming up and rearranging money in my envelopes to be able to give to that cause. It felt good to be able to have that flexibility to see where I had extra money and make a change based on what was important to me!

  2. I have done that in the past and while it does throw other finances off its exciting to help and do what you can
