You’re on your way to creating a budget that works! So far you’ve added Envelopes and Accounts, and recorded incomes. Now, it’s time to fill your Envelopes.
Filling moves money from your Available to your Envelopes so you know exactly how much you can spend.
On the Web
- Click the Fill Envelopes icon.
- Select to fill from Available.
- In Step 2, choose how you’d like to fill your Envelopes:
- Use the Choose a Quick Fill menu to apply the same changes to all of your Envelopes
- Or, Enter your own amount into the field next to each Envelope to Fill individual Envelopes
- As you fill:
- The Envelope bar updates automatically.
- The bold number on the right shows what the new balance will be after filling.
- Tip: Watch the Still Available amount on the right side:
- If it turns red, you’re trying to fill with more than you have.
- Click Save in the lower right when you’re finished.
Tip
Try to leave some money in Available instead of filling everything. Building a one-month cushion can help smooth out future budgeting.
On iPhone
To fill Envelopes using money in Available:
- Tap the notepad and pencil icon (top right).
- Tap the Type field and select Fill From Available.
- Add a Description.
- (Optional) Tap “Schedule…” to make the fill post automatically every time.
- Tap each Envelope to choose how to fill it:
- Add budgeted amount: Rolls over leftovers and adds the budgeted amount again.
- Set to budget amount tops off the Envelope to its full budgeted amount.
- Toggle off Rollover remaining balance to see the Set to budget amount option:
- Use Choose a Quick Fill to apply the same action to all Envelopes.
- Tap Save.
Android
To fill Envelopes from Available:
- Tap the Fill Envelopes button at the top right of the screen.
- Choose From Available.
- Fill out the Description field
- (Optional) Check “Schedule this…” so the Fill posts automatically each time.
- Tap each Envelope and choose how much you’d like to add to them:
